I think we just like the idea of the other.
We check off each other’s boxes
but there was always something missing.
Something neither of us could put fingers on.
Maybe that something is magic and
the illusion of it keeps drawing us back in.
Only to find that it is still just an illusion.

Ounces
Is it worth it to continue to drink the 6 ounces
of deliciousness someone pours into you
if the remaining 2 ounces they keep or lack
still leaves you thirsty and your glass unfulfilled?
Lead
One of the sexiest things a man can do
is gently place his hand on the small of my back
and lead me, lead me wherever he’d like us to go.
Could be as close as the bedroom
Or as far as his dreams, just lead me.
Book
I am not the type to reread the same book
But you’re a book I’ll read over and over again.
Knowing the ending doesn’t even matter
because the best of us was written
in the captivating chapters in between.
They
We can only love each other to the
extent our personal demons will allow.
Until we confront them and
cut ties for good, they’ll continue
to disrupt the beauty of us.
Maybe we should just
introduce them to each other…
Maybe they’ll finally heal
and leave us to do the same.
