It’s not enough to just be desired by you,
you gotta love me all the way through.
My vibe is the type you’ll struggle to walk
away from and immediately regret leaving.
So love me like your time in my aura is limited.
Love me because you’ve never felt this before.
Misprize this gift and you’ll spend a lifetime trying
to find my energy, my kiss, my flavor, my love
my touch, and this peace in others to no avail.
Come on, do it. Love me all the way through.

This
This thing between us is powerful.
Immensely palpable, nearly tangible.
I think I can actually strum the
string that pulls us together.
It seems to keep us tethered
even when we’re miles apart.
And in those moments we share the
same space, we explode without
breaking into a million pieces as this
thing also inexplicably keeps us whole.
Feel
I’m in awe of the way you make me feel so
Needed • to require (someone) because they are essential.
Wanted • to have a desire to have or wish for (someone).
Appreciated • to recognize the full worth of (someone).
Special • better, greater, or different from what is usual.
I hope and pray that I’ll, at the very least,
come close to making you feel the same.
Because you are so deserving of receiving
every ounce of the good you continuously
pour into me so willing and altruistically.
Quotes for the Soul: Special
I know that I’m a great person.
I love me. I’m a pretty dope soul.
But special is something I’ve never
been called or been able to
identify with until now and
I don’t know how to explain the way
I feel when you say it with such conviction.
It’s like you’re taking the wings I forgot I had, gently spreading them wide,
and encouraging me to fly.
“Butterflies don’t know the color of their wings, but human eyes know how beautiful it is. Likewise, you don’t know how good you are, but others can see that you are special.” -Unknown
Quotes for the Soul: Cry
Today I wanted to be left alone. I wanted to turn off my phone and just disconnect. I kept feeling waves of sadness I wanted to embrace. I wanted to provide myself the space to feel, to cry, to pray. So I put on some gospel music to let my spirit talk to God for me. I cried but didn’t feel better after. I felt like there was just so much more to pour out. I just couldn’t find the stillness to do so though my chest was on the brink of heaving. I decided to do some housekeeping then turned my phone back on. Thirty-four texts greeted me from friends and family about nothing in particular. I replied to everyone robotically. Even sending laughing emojis when a smile never formed. I don’t wish to talk to anyone, I simply don’t have the words. I just want to finally feel this bellowing cry that’s brimming so I can process and push forward. Sadness is a normal part of life. It’s healthy to cry, to feel. It’s when we force these feelings away that they become harmful to our existence and those around us.
“Some days are just bad days, that’s all. You have to experience sadness to know happiness, and I remind myself that not every day is going to be a good day, that’s just the way it is!.” – Dita Von Teese
