Quotes for the Soul: 9-11

“Commending the victims to almighty God’s mercy, I implore his strength upon all involved in rescue efforts and in caring for the survivors.” — Pope John Paul II, Sept. 11.

It was the first semester of my senior year of high school and I was in English class. The principal made an announcement I didn’t listen to and then the TV in our classroom began broadcasting what was happening. I sat on top of my desk for some reason. I was really intrigued, terrified and confused and couldn’t turn away. I immediately thought of all my family in NY. My grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins and wondered if they were OK. I wasn’t one of the cool kids with a cell phone so I couldn’t call my mom to ask or get any sort of update. I recall going home after school and watching the footage over and over and over. The sight of the 2nd plane hitting the towers still gives me chills to this day and every single time I hear a plane flying over head while at home I fear it may be another attack.

On this day, I pray for the families still mourning and for those still suffering the residuals of that day. I pray for the troops overseas who are fighting a seemingly never ending battle and as cheesy as this may sound I truly pray for peace. God Bless!

Quotes For The Soul: Time

“Prayer becomes more meaningful as we counsel with the Lord in all of our doings, as we express heartfelt gratitude, and as we pray for others.” -David A. Bednar

Its time I go back to what I know
Its time I seek my usual cure-all remedy
Its time I reach for the one solution that has always fixed every problem
Its time I re-focus my mind, body and spiritual being
Its time I return to the path I unknowingly strayed from
Its time I seek a better me
Its time I go back to him
Father, here I am.
I surrender all in prayer

Quotes For The Soul: Colors

“Yesterday I tried to paint you but the colors weren’t beautiful enough.” -Beyonce’

I think it is pretty hard to see past the surface of people when the colors of who we are blur and blend when in normal day to day environments. When that atmosphere is challenged we then have the opportunity to truly see one another. Darkness or rather undesired moments or challenges are the best palates to display people’s true colors when it comes to how they see you, what you mean to them and what they are willing to do for you and even with you. I get so lost in the beauty of the paisley prints or the zebra’s stripes that I forget to look through it, to the core…

Today when darkness appeared as an usual palate, your true colors danced off my canvas and I saw what I was trying to mask by remaining in the light.

True colors shine true in the dark moments.

Quotes For The Soul: One More Time

“Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.” –Maya Angelou

I choose to be vulnerable in love, in like even and that always leaves my heart bruised. Broken once but bruised often. But even still, the nostalgia of the perfect moments in between is why I’ll forever allow my heart to love and live in a vulnerable space. I can’t and won’t apologize for who I am and I can’t make anyone see the beauty in such a scary, thrilling and risky approach. I can only continue “to trust love one more time and always one more time.”

Quotes For The Soul: Good

Goodness is about character, integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people.” -Dennis Prager

With everything that you do, try your very best to operate from the good place found in all  of us. This is my life motto. It is the advice I ingrain in almost everyone I encounter. I truly believe that the goodness we sew in our daily operations continue to grow and spread beyond our own existence. It is a gift both to and from our souls. #BeGood
